A century ago, Mexican-Americans, Jews and Irish Americans were barred from country clubs and restaurants, discriminated against in jobs and schools. it was illegal to marry someone not your own race.Times have changed, now interracial dating is not only accepted, it can be considered to be cool.
Most individuals whom date are just color-blind; black or white, Asian or Hispanic makes no difference to them.
Interracial relationships covers all ethnicities and statistically last longer than same race relationships.
Some problems may be encounted when dating someone of another race.Outright prejudice sometime exist from parents, siblings, and extended family.In some
realtionships, the couple in love are sometimes find themselves very frequently harassed and ostracized by a family member.
Color aside, the one thing that a single person will someday wish for is a person who understands them, supports them and adds happiness to their life.Most people find these traits and qualities in people of different races.
The history of interracial dating goes back, anti-miscegenation laws were very common in the U.S. They were passes around the 1600’s prevent freed Black slaves from marrying Whites and the biracial children of White slave owners and African slaves from inheriting property.
These laws were struck down ad unconstitutional 1967, during the height of the Civil Rights Movement.
Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina has received lots of attention for outwardly prohibiting interracial dating and marriage on its campus.The school has ended its ban on interracial dating in wake of the controversy stirred by George W. Bush’s visit to the fundamentalist Christian school
